We are deeply grateful to the School of Architecture at the University of Illinois for the opportunity to present “Adaptive Reuse in Practice: 3 Case Studies in Education and Historic Preservation” as part of their Critical Practice Lecture Series.
During the lecture, Víctor Díaz Paunetto shared insights from three award-winning projects by Díaz Paunetto Arquitectos that exemplify adaptive reuse as a tool for transformation and sustainability. The Annex GELM in Corozal, the Medical Arts Building in Puerta de Tierra, and the Guardería Ecológica La Mina demonstrate how architecture can rescue existing structures, integrate contemporary needs, and promote social impact while preserving cultural and historical value.
We thank the Illinois Architecture community for their warm welcome and for fostering meaningful dialogue on the importance of adaptive reuse in shaping a more resilient and conscious built environment.
