Cafetolio

This commission reactivates two existing spaces tied to the East Connector Project within the Tropical Medicine Building, converting them into food concessions totaling approximately 1,724 sq ft and opening onto the building’s iconic central patio. One concession (≈724 sq ft) also fronts the new linear plaza between Tropical Medicine and the Senate Annex and is dedicated to coffee beverages, snacks, and pre-packaged goods. Its interior accommodates small parties with custom-designed tables and booths, while the exterior seating under the East Connector’s glass canopy serves larger groups. Centered on Puerto Rico’s coffee economy and tradition, the grunge-vintage identity of Cafetolio curates an intimate tasting experience.

The second concession (≈1,000 sq ft), facing the interior patio, focuses on healthy, simply prepared food and includes educational components on nutrition and easy-to-make dishes. Branded as Viveverde, it offers quick meals in a clean, refreshing environment and promotes local products, reinforcing the project’s emphasis on wellness and community engagement.
