This commission converts two existing spaces associated with the East Connector Project in the Tropical Medicine Building into food concessions totaling approximately 1,724 sq ft. Both venues open to the building’s iconic central patio, and one also fronts the new linear plaza between Tropical Medicine and the Senate Annex. The larger, ≈1,000 sq ft concession Viveverde is envisioned as a health-food store that sells local products and prepares fresh, nutritious meals. A clean, refreshing aesthetic reinforces its wellness focus, with custom-designed elements such as the main service counter and larger tables. Viveverde’s walls double as educational infographics highlighting the local produce economy.
Directly across the patio and facing the East Connector, the second concession Cafetolio complements Viveverde and helps activate both the patio and connector frontage, strengthening the project’s goal of creating accessible, inviting amenities within the Capitol District.
